Moms in Touch

Contact: Susan Robson (skrobson@myway.com)

Moms In Touch is an international group with a goal to impact children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray. Crossroads is arranging ongoing groups to encourage moms to give their children the most important gift: prayer. We have a goal of hosting three groups per week during the coming school year. Meetings follow a specific format and last one, power-packed hour. Let Susan know when you are available and when at least four women are available at the same time, a group will launch.

As an outreach project this year, Women’s Ministry will be collecting fleece blankets to use in various Missions venues. MOPS groups will make blankets for children going in to foster care and all women are invited to contribute either fleece or completed blankets to give locally and abroad.

Baby Blanket
No Sewing Needed
Purchase 1 yard fleece Cut 4 inch squares out of each corner. Cut 4 inch strips every one inch across each side. Tie every strip into a knot at the bottom

Large Child Blanket
No Sewing Needed
Purchase 2 pieces, 2 ¼ yards each, of coordinating polar fleece (one solid and one print). Place the two pieces of fleece on a large flat surface (the floor works well), wrong sides together, selvage edges together. [Pull on two points of the selvage side at once. The fabric curves toward the front.] Keeping the two pieces together, cut off the selvages and straighten the cut edges making sure the two pieces match in size. If you are unable to complete the blanket in one sitting, pin the layers together to prevent shifting. For fringe templates - - cut two pieces of cardboard—one that is 3” square and the second that is 1” x 3.” Use the 3” square template on the corners of the fleece and cut out a 3” square of fleece at each corner. Cut through both layers.

Blanket Fringe
Use the 1” x 3” template as a guide to cut fringe along each side of the fleece, 1” wide and 3” deep. Cut through both layers. After cutting all the fringe, tie the fringe pieces together, double knot, one plain with one print, around the entire blanket. The ties should not be tied too tightly or it will pull. No sewing required. Square knot instructions – tie right over left and then left over right or vice versa).
