Below you will find a listing of all sessions offered, with full descriptions including teachers and content. You may only register to attend one breakout session.

ROLE SPECIFIC

How to Lead an On-campus Small Group
Bryan Finley and Team
How can you take your on-campus small group to the next level? This breakout will address this by laying out a clear course with practical tips and leadership tools to help you get there. Leave prepared to take your on-campus group to deeper levels in both their relationship with God and with others.

Teaching for Maximum Impact
Greg Hicks & Louann Bertram
Has God gifted you to teach? Do you have interest in teaching, but are not sure where to begin? Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned veteran, join Greg and Louann with their 30+ years of teaching and ministry experience, as they equip you to maximize your effectiveness and produce real life transformation. This break out will address: Hitting the Mark: Teaching for Transformation; Answering the Tough Questions; and Communicating Effectively & Creatively. This is a required track for all Sunday Morning Connect Teachers and Leaders.

Intro to Structured Teaching for Autism (TEACCH)
Pam DeVore & Gina Hubert
This breakout will discuss the latest findings on Autism and will present a structured teaching method called TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicap CHildren). Core skills and techniques will be taught to increase your confidence to teach, shadow, or just be a buddy to one of our Special Friends in the STAR Ministry. 

Edge Student Ministry: Adult and Student Leaders Training
Andy George & CC Farris

Axiom Leadership – Strategic training for all Adult and Student Leaders. In this session we will discuss plans and strategies to take Edge to the next level. There will be ministry/volunteer specific training for both Adult and Student Leaders.

LEADERSHIP BASICS

CPR and Security Training
Emily Versteeg & Team
This course is for all volunteers and provides the framework for carrying out ministry at Crossroads in a safe and secure environment. This breakout will cover CPR training and will award participants with a CPR certification upon the completion of the course. Security training will cover procedures for handling various security situations that may occur in the course of conducting ministry. Topics will include inclement weather situations, health emergencies, and how to deal with certain threatening situations in appropriate ways.

Membership Class (Leadership Basics)
Kathy Meadows

This course will provide an overview of the leader’s role in helping the church live out its mission, vision, values and ministry strategy including essentials needed to be a great leader. This course focuses on the role of being a member at Crossroads and is the equivalent of taking “Leadership Basics” and is a foundational training required for all volunteers. You will be eligible to join the church after taking this course, if desired.

How to Study the Bible
Jim Shelton & Zane Creamer
Learn how to study the Bible for yourself using an inductive approach to unfolding the scriptures. Practical techniques, tips, and insights on how to take your study of God’s word to the next level!

ON-GOING TRAINING

Social Media: What in the virtual world is going on?
Larry Leake, Frank Reed & Steve West
This course will present an insightful view into the world of social media and the internet. A technology engineer, social media consultant, and an attorney will combine their experience in this area to lead the breakout. Practical advice for the personal use of such media tools as Face Book, Twitter, My Space and more will be discussed. Session will address areas of interest for both the beginner and seasoned user. Is social media a fad or here to stay? Session will include a Q&A session.

Marriage Mentoring Training
Jon & Angela Mills / David & Amy Dudley
As a leader, your marriage impacts your ability to minister to others. Come and receive some training that will enrich your marriage. Plus, as a leader, sooner or later you will be drawn into a couple’s marital challenges. Are you prepared? This training will not only enrich your own marriage but will also prepare you to enrich the lives of other couples. This training also counts towards partial certification as a “Pre-Marriage Mentor” or a “Marriage Enrichment Mentor” (future training options will be explained but not required).

Survey of Disputed Issues
Dr. Mike Garrett
This course will address hot issues Christians are often afraid to discuss. This broad range of topics will include Charismatic Questions, When will Christ Return, UFO’s and Aliens, The Holy War question, Predestination, Divorce & Remarriage in the church, Once Saved Always Saved, Drinking… Dancing…Smoking…Rock & Roll and several more!

Journey to Financial Freedom – Managing Finances in Turbulent Times
Dave Ramsey on DVD, Hosted and Taught by Richard Hill, Financial Advisor

Do the economic challenges you face today seem overwhelming? This course will cover the immediate techniques and long term strategies needed to live financially free in Christ. A cost is required for this breakout but is waived for Leadership Conference attendees.
