The Family Place (TFP) is a 501(c3) Christian ministry dedicated to serving needy and low-wealth families with children, through mentoring, training programs and assistance with basic needs. Our goal is to help them move toward self-sufficiency and a better quality of life. TFP was founded by Rev. Minnie McCoy and has served Southeast Raleigh and its suburbs for 10 years.
Services include: 1) A mentoring/goal setting program for low wealth single and married women, and 2) ‘Life Skills’ classes on money management, health screenings, nutrition, job readiness and spiritual development (including weekly prayer and Bible study). TFP also provides household furnishings, a clothing closet, on-site food pantry (off-site grocery delivery to disabled and elderly persons), a computer lab/educational room for children, youth and adults, and referrals to affordable housing and medical clinics. We collaborate with human resource providers, churches, and youth groups.
